Aliens

The two aliens landed.

For the next few days, they explored their surroundings, wreaking chaos everywhere they went, and occasionally killing people or destroying buildings.

The military did nothing but stand on alert and monitoring from a distance.

Not even drones took a chance at getting close.

They knew from experience that the aliens could not be beaten and would leave soon if left unthreatened.

People died, houses were lost, and newscasts went crazy.

How long would they stay this time? What if they decided to visit a major city? Were these the same ones from before, or did they just look the same?

A few days later, the aliens left the planet, just as abruptly as they had previously landed.

There had been no attempts at communication.

The population demanded answers: why?

Who were they, where had they come from, when would they return, and how many more people would have to die before the government took care of the situation?

At the same time, others feared any formal interaction with the aliens.

What if they got angry? What if they called for backup?

But, on the other hand, what if this was merely a scouting party for the invasion to come?

For the time being, no one could answer any of these questions.

Perhaps one day they would return, and the planet would be ready.

Or perhaps not.

In orbit, about to leave the galaxy, one of the aliens contemplated the planet below.

The alien pondered and finally proclaimed to the other one:

– I now understand why we did this. It is far more impressive to see them here. In the wild.
